The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) can be a life-saver in certain instances - after all, it is a unique identity number that every phone has, and you could use it in a situation like when you retrieve your lost phone and you need to prove its yours. 

Not just that, though: cellular networks use the IMEI number to identify devices and you can use it to block access of a device to a network.

So how do you find out the exact IMEI number of your iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone handset?

It’s in fact very easy to do with the IMEI USSD code. This is a kind of code that you type directly in the phone dialer. This same code will actually work on feature phones, earlier Symbian devices, and many more. Just type it in and you’ll get the IMEI number as a result:
